Stunning natural beauty, a cutting edge tech-driven economy, and a feeling of belonging due to diverse cultures make this area one of a kind. Toss in a world-class social scene and the absolute best colleges on earth, and you can see why eight Bay Area cities made it into the top 10 of a new ranking of best places in California to retire.
In a new report by WalletHub, which inspected factors like the typical cost for basic items, climate, change, access to medicinal services and entertaining activities, the Bay Area turned out on top! After all, where else can you find gorgeous beaches, huge redwoods and world-famous landmarks nearby? In fact, there are so many amazing places to live in the Bay that you may have trouble guessing which city ranked number 1.
Los Gatos came in First place! The city scored the highest, grabbing 74.79 out of 100 points speaking to the perfect conditions for retirement. The blissful South Bay city was hailed for its high caliber of life, medicinal services and wealth of activities in close proximity, from local art exhibitions and theaters to golf courses. A jewel of Santa Clara County, Los Gatos is acclaimed for its picturesque excellence, from the joys of Oak Meadow Park with its enchanting train to the shimmering waters of Lake Vasona. As per Bloomberg Businessweek, Los Gatos additionally is positioned the 33rd wealthiest city in the natio n.
Surprisingly, affordability wasn't a major issue for these rankings. As the expenses of living remain staggeringly high in the Bay Area, where the middle cost for a current home was $875,000 in July.
Coming in second is Los Altos, which scored 71.94 out of 100 points. Completing the top three is Walnut Creek with 71.89 points. The other Bay Area cities in the top ten are San Rafael, Saratoga, Palo Alto, San Ramon, and Novato.
To be clear about how intensely the Bay Area rules this report, you need to get to #9 before you leave the region, at that point comes Yorba Linda in the tenth spot. But call the Bay Area whatever you want, just make sure it's nothing less than amazing.
